Friends in Faith
An Experience with Our Cuban Friends

My experience with our Cuban friends was profoundly beautiful. We had the privilege of meeting a family full of values, faith and hope; a family that radiated the presence of God. They made the courageous decision to leave their country in search of a better future for their children in the United States. It was not an easy choice, but they made it in family unity, trusting in the divine guidance of God and the Virgin Mary. These companions on the road always accompanied them, from their departure to their arrival in the United States, and continue to bless them even there.
As Lay Dominicans Presentation, we are committed to helping our brothers and sisters. When Sister Georgina Gonzalez told us about this family, we did not hesitate for a moment to offer them our help. It is really beautiful to see how God is organizing every detail so that things flow harmoniously. In addition, many well-known people also collaborated to make this family's dream come true.
From the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation, we have learned to welcome our brothers and sisters with love and we think that they felt at home. Sharing several days was like being in a family. The visit to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the shared meals and the celebration of Leidys daughter's birthday were moments of great joy for all. A month after her arrival in the United States we are still in contact, we are already a true family in faith.

The way God touches our hearts through the people who cross our path is amazing. It fills us with faith, love, hope and gratitude. And although our group of Lay Dominicans Presentation is small, we are firmly committed to work for His glory.
