Santa María Ixhuatán Community
We are the community of Santa María Ixhuatán, located in the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Lima, Guatemala, since November 2015. Isabela Victoria Hernández Vázquez, of temporary commitment, sisters Dora Alicia Muñoz Pérez and Norberta López García, of perpetual commitment.
Ixhuatán is a rural municipality of approximately 28,000 inhabitants, they are welcoming, close, simple, generous and of faith, which is expressed in a strong popular religiosity. With their testimony they challenge us to live the radicality of following Jesus Christ, from the Charism of Marie Poussepin.
We belong to the Parish of St. Mary of All Saints, which is in charge of the Fathers of the Missionary Fraternity of Mary, has several lay ministries which make it participatory, dynamic and vital.
We live in the urban area, the missionary contribution of the community is in:
- alternative health, through the therapies of Medical Biomagnetism that involve a special pastoral of listening.
- Educational Pastoral Care in the College of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, from:
- the periodic formation of teachers and parents.
- the preparation and realization of spiritual retreats for students and the accompaniment of the monthly Eucharist.
- Service to the parish through the formation of pastoral agents.
